I thought, I will be lonely in this university, I thought, I will be afraid of the people around me, I thought, college life is much serious to take but one event enlighten me that the thoughts I have are not true.
August 1, 2015, after plenty of cancellations due of inclement weather and prelim exam, finally! Bachelor of Arts Major in Political Science course had General Assembly. It is gathering of all Political Science students, a once in a year event, even alumni are also present. Pol Sci of Adamson has their organization – AdU-PULITIKA, I thought it was just a Filipino word of Political, thinking that our organization name is just a simple banner in Adamson but this thought again is not true. Adamson University Political Science students United in Living out its Identity for Truth, Integrity, Knowledge, and Academic Supremacy. Oh wow! Superb meaning of AdU-PULITIKA! Our President Joshua Mayuga said in our orientation for freshmen students, it’s a must for Pol Sci students to know the meaning of organization, marking to upperclassmen that still don’t know the abbreviation. I hope, I can have it in my mind anytime.
After our NSTP class, my block mates gather in ST Quad for the event. We’re wearing green symbolizing as new, just like in Elementary and High School in Grade 1 and 1st year respectively. Honestly, I expect that general assembly is a forum in each of everyone but this expectation is not true, we have interviews, games, intermission numbers and contest, nevertheless, I enjoyed very much!
The hosts, they brought the crowd on active even though some are not actually active. The games were fun! I joined one game – longest line. We lost because our opponent has their readings. Freshmen are out of place when the host recognizes former officers and recent professors, mostly attorneys, we just applause but we have now clues on our upcoming professors. A pageant was also happened, “Mutya ng Pulitika” and “Lakandula ng Pulitika”, two of our classmates have joined, Renz Tabo and Fiona Perreras on Mutya, Renz is a male but slight. My classmates did have good fight in their question and answers but one candidate stood out; she is Ate Elmira Daguio, having her advantage in modeling and she won.
We don’t know each other referring to upperclassmen, being close to them asking this and that, it’s not yet happening. I don’t expect this part of event but I felt great after! The welcome rites, after the pledge of being Pol Sci student, all upperclassmen made a circle and we, freshmen are inside the circle. I feel that they blessed us to be a new political science student of Adamson, not just about that, they engage and welcome us truthfully. Honestly speaking, that moment is really a welcome to me as a certified Political Science student, looks like it’s just a first day of school.
Officers of AdU-PULITIKA announced the groups that divide all Political Science students into 4 groups. Preferably, the main goal of these groups is the closeness and unity of each Pol Sci student even though we have different agendas in life. This will also help us freshmen to conquer the real world of Political Science because we’re only on a ‘petiks’ mode at the moment. It will boost also our confident and social life with new friends that would help us in the future semesters in Adamson University as Political Science.
I’m so happy! I’m now officially Political Science student of Adamson because of this General Assembly. I hope the goals of this year’s theme – PADAYON will create huge impact each of every one of us. I’m Kharl Angelo Vargas, certified Pol Sci student.
HANAPIN NIYO AKO! :p (c) |
